Cabinetry and shelving for a dining room

The clients admired an earlier limited-edition cabinet design and wanted something with a similar language, adapted for their home and made from locally sourced timber. The brief was to create a statement piece that would anchor the dining room while working with its new green walls.

Constructed from London Plane felled in nearby Denmark Hill, the piece combines painted panels by Eliza Hopewell with sweeping steam-bent elements. Each curve was formed from 5 mm-thick strips of London Plane, winched around a former and joined with sliding dovetails so the structure can be dry-fitted, dismantled or extended in future. The result is both artwork and joinery: paintings that move and intersect, bends that reveal a gradient of tone, and spaces for display that bring the room to life.
