Plinths for ceramic works

Created in response to Michaela Yearwood-Dan’s ceramic sculptures, these Ash plinths were designed to support and echo the language of her work. Their profiles were drawn directly from the outlines of the ceramics, then extruded to varying heights to form a loose constellation across the gallery.

Vertical ash grain evokes tree bark, while the marquetry tops introduce abstract compositions that make the works approachable from every direction. The light tone of the ash sits between the floor and the ceramics, binding the materials without imitation. Together, the plinths function as both landscape and structure — quiet forms that support, reflect, and subtly extend the artist’s language.
