Desk and cabinetry for a converted workshop

Designed for a former carpenter’s workshop, this project aimed to connect a disjointed corner of a bedroom to the rest of the space. The brief was to create a workspace that felt calm and connected, using materials that reflected the building’s industrial past.

A continuous walnut worktop wraps the wall, forming both desk and storage, while stainless steel shelving introduces a reflective counterpoint that catches the light from the nearby window. Reclaimed veneer from a previous refurbishment was reused for the worktop, adding texture and memory to the surface. The combination of warm and cool materials gives the piece balance — a quiet nod to the building’s history and a clear expression of contemporary craft.
