Bespoke Entrance Storage & Bookshelf

A dual commission for a family home: a robust entrance rack for shoes and coats, and a sculptural bookshelf for the upper floor. The design needed to feel cohesive while responding to two very different conditions — the bustle of a hallway and the calm of a bedroom.

The entrance pieces are made from UK-grown Sweet Chestnut, chosen for its strength, warmth and lighter tone. Parallel wavy lines form the top and bottom edges, creating wells for everyday items and softening the overall geometry.

Upstairs, a bookshelf in London Plane timber acts as a vertical totem. Carved uprights and subtle shelf intersections lend a drawn, gestural quality. Both elements balance function and rhythm — grounded and durable downstairs, lighter and more reflective above.
